What this tool does
The Discount Calculator subtracts a percentage discount from an original price, then optionally applies a tax percentage to the discounted amount. It reports the monetary discount, price after discount, tax amount, and final price. Currency selection changes display formatting only; it does not perform exchange-rate conversion.
For an original price of 120 with a 25 percent discount, the savings are 30 and the discounted price is 90. If 10 percent tax is then applied, the tax amount is 9 and the displayed final price is 99. The calculation assumes tax is charged after the discount.
Real receipts can follow different rules. Jurisdictions may treat coupons, rebates, inclusive taxes, shipping, fees, deposits, and multiple discounts differently. Retailers may also round individual line items rather than the final total.
How to use it
- Enter the original pre-discount price.
- Enter the discount percentage or choose a common preset.
- Enter tax as zero when it does not apply, or provide the percentage charged after discount.
- Choose a currency for display.
- Select Calculate final price and compare the result with the offer terms.
When several discounts are applied one after another, calculate them sequentially. Two consecutive 20 percent discounts do not equal 40 percent off: the second discount applies to the already reduced price.

Checking a promotion
Confirm whether the advertised percentage applies to the complete item, selected variants, or a maximum discount amount. Check whether shipping and fees are excluded and whether the price already includes tax. For subscriptions, identify whether the discount applies once or to every billing period.
Small differences can result from rounding. ToolSeta keeps the calculation in JavaScript number precision and formats the displayed currency to two decimal places, while a merchant may round each tax or discount line separately.
