Rotate and Flip Image guide
Rotate a JPG, PNG, or WebP image, mirror it horizontally or vertically, and download the transformed result as PNG.
What this tool does
Rotate and Flip Image applies one clockwise rotation and optional mirror operations to the selected pixels. Rotation choices are zero, 90, 180, and 270 degrees. A horizontal flip mirrors left and right, while a vertical flip mirrors top and bottom. Both flips can be enabled together.
When an image is rotated by 90 or 270 degrees, output width and height exchange places. A 1200 by 800 pixel source therefore becomes an 800 by 1200 pixel result. Rotations of zero or 180 degrees retain the source dimensions.
The browser performs the transformation on a canvas and exports PNG. PNG preserves transparent pixels and avoids adding another lossy JPG compression step. Converting a large photograph to PNG may increase file size, so use the Image Converter afterward when a JPG or WebP delivery file is more appropriate.
How to use it
- Choose a JPG, PNG, or WebP image.
- Select the required clockwise rotation.
- Enable horizontal or vertical mirroring when needed.
- Select Apply transformation.
- Confirm the resulting dimensions and download the PNG.
The flip is applied in the rotated canvas coordinate system. If a combined result is not what you expected, treat rotation and mirroring as visual operations: try the alternate flip or perform one operation, download it, and use that result for the second operation.
Use the Image Cropper after rotation when the corrected orientation exposes edges that should be removed.

Common uses and checks
Use rotation to correct images captured sideways, prepare vertical assets, or change the direction of scanned graphics. Horizontal mirroring can reverse a product orientation or create symmetrical layout alternatives. Vertical mirroring is useful for reflection effects and coordinate corrections.
Mirroring also reverses visible writing, logos, and directional symbols. Inspect faces, product labels, signs, maps, and screenshots before publishing. Rotation and flipping do not change source resolution or restore details that were already missing.
Keep the original file. The downloaded image records transformed pixels and does not include an undo history. Some source metadata, such as camera information or location details, is not intentionally copied into the canvas export.
