Image Opacity Adjuster guide
Reduce the opacity of an entire image and export the translucent result as a PNG.
What this tool does
The Image Opacity Adjuster multiplies the alpha of every drawn pixel by the selected percentage. At 100 percent, the image remains fully as opaque as its source allows. At 50 percent, every pixel contributes half its original opacity. Existing transparent or semi-transparent PNG areas remain transparent and are reduced proportionally.
Output is always PNG because the format can store an alpha channel. A JPG or WebP source is decoded onto a same-size transparent canvas and exported as a new PNG. The tool does not add a background behind the image, so its visible appearance depends on the color or content underneath it in the destination.
This adjustment affects the complete image uniformly. It does not remove a background, select a subject, create a gradient fade, change only one color, or edit individual layers. Lowering opacity does not make a white background disappear; white pixels become translucent white pixels.
How to use it
- Add a JPG, PNG, or WebP source up to 25 MB to adjust its alpha level.
- Choose an opacity from 1 through 100 percent.
- Select Apply opacity.
- Download the PNG output.
- Preview it over the intended background.
If the desired result is a normal opaque picture blended onto one known background, combine the layers in an image editor instead. A translucent file can look different when placed over light, dark, or patterned surfaces.

Export considerations
PNG opacity is preserved only in software and workflows that support transparency. Some upload systems flatten PNG files onto a solid background or convert them to JPEG. Canvas export can remove source metadata and may produce a larger file than a compressed JPEG photograph. Keep the original file for later editing.
